 COMPETITION RULES

  1. The competition is open to full playing members from any Island Club affiliated to the Union.  Players will play from their home club playing handicaps up to a maximum of 24 for men and 30 for ladies at the closing date for entry to the competition. Any player whose handicap increases beyond the maximum during the course of the event remains eligible to play but must play off the maximum handicap allowed.

  2. The entrance fee to the competition will be determined by the Union and must be paid at time of entry. If the entry fee is not paid, the pair will not be included in the draw.

  3. The maximum entry is 128 pairs. If the competition is over subscribed, then a  ballot will take place in order of combined handicap.

  4. Matches shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf. Strokes will be taken in accordance with the men's stroke index table of the course where the match is being played. Strokes will be given on HALF the difference of the combined playing handicaps.

  5. All matches shall start with the men driving from the first tee

  6. Matches shall be played over 18 holes. In the event of the match being all square, it shall continue until one pair wins a hole.  At any extra hole played, strokes will be taken as in Rule 4 above.

  7. All four players are equally responsible for offering and accepting a selection of dates (one of which must include a Saturday or a Sunday) and the date selected must fall within the time limit imposed as shown on  the draw sheet.  The winning pair are responsible for informing the Competition Organiser (as noted on the draw sheet) of the result of the match within 72 hours of the completion date of the round. If no result is received, by then, both pairs will be eliminated. No time extension will be allowed for any reason.

  8. If players are unable to reach agreement on any aspect of the competition an appeal may be made  through the Competition Organiser to the Committee of the Union whose decision shall be final.
